Computer Research from Hotel in
Oberstdorf
If you’re planning on carrying out computer research from Hotel Oberstdorf (or any other hotel for that
matter), there are two options. You could either bring in your own computer equipment to the premises (i.e., an
internet-ready laptop, memory stick, etc). Or you could get in touch with the chosen hotel ahead of your arrival
to find out the range of computing facilities they have available (if any).
Admittedly, the world of technology is moving at an incredibly impressive pace, but not all
hotels have the budget to mirror that – nor should they. While some hotels might be able to offer state-of-the-art
computing facilities to their guests and staff, even going as far as to offer a WIFI-ready connection in each and
every room, other hotels might be on the other end of the spectrum.
There is nothing wrong or right with either scenario, but you’d do well to choose a hotel
that will cater to what your particular requirements are.
If you’re in luck and you find a hotel that has all the facilities you need in
order to carry out your research, then one thing’s for sure: it’ll be less weight for you to carry around on
your journey to and from the hotel (or less for you to remember to take with you!). There’d be no need to
travel with your laptop, your laptop bag, your charger. Just your memory stick – that’s it.
Another thing one might want to ask a hotel ahead of time, Hotel Allgäu for instance, is what the general
environment is like in terms of noise and being able to concentrate on your research work. It might be a bit
more of a challenge to work in an environment where you’ve been placed next to a room inhabited by a family full
of over-excited children. On the other hand, the hotel might be undergoing some major renovations which might be
equally as distracting. Or there might be a new building complex being constructed right on their
doorstep.
Regardless of whether you choose to carry out your computer research in a hotel using your
own equipment or not, a slight word of caution: it wouldn’t hurt to back up your research work on something other
than just the memory stick. You could perhaps send a copy of your work to your email address. And if it’s very
sensitive data, ensure you encrypt it before sending it off.
