New computer tools for antivirus software

The Internet has changed our culture in so many ways that it can be hard to comprehend them all with total clarity.  The evolution of the Internet is tied up with many changes in late 20th and early 21st century communications.  The convergence of the Internet onto a number of other communication technologies goes to show how all pervasive it can be.  As the Internet develops however, it also provides us with a number of problems which need to be addressed, including threats to computer systems through the proliferation of online viruses, worms and trojans.  There are a number of antivirus applications which have been developed especially to deal with these threats, with many of them presenting novel and highly advanced solutions to these security problems.

The Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) was created in 1958, in an attempt by the Americans to re-establish a technological lead over the USSR that they feel that they lost after the launch of Sputnik.  ARPA started researching the Semi Automatic Ground Environment (SAGE) program, which was responsible for the networking together of the nation’s radar systems for the first time.  The technology for this project was utilised by J. C. R. Licklider when he moved from ARPA to MIT and established ARPANET – which many people see as the birth of the Internet.  Under the instruction of Licklider, Lawrence Roberts started to make a new network based on brand new packet switching technology, used in contrast to circuit switching as it makes networks stronger and more flexible.  The first connection between two individual nodes of what was to become the ARPANET network occurred between UCLA and SRI on October 29, 1969.

An International Packet Switched Service (IPSS) began in the U.K and later spread to the rest of Europe, Canada and Australia after it was proved that packet switching was possible.  The X.25 standard became developed in 1976, and the TCP/IP protocol which is still used today was developed around the same time.  The first use of the term ‘Internet’ was in 1974, and the world has not been the same ever since.  Although there has been a number of protocol changes and developments in the intervening years, most of what has happened since then has been about growth.  As the Internet has grown  in size and connection speeds have increased, computer viruses have become more of a threat to everyday computing.

Many small businesses rely on their computers and Internet tools for email services and conference calls on a daily basis.  By having the right antivirus applications installed, small businesses can make sure that they are secure against any threats and are ready for anything the future may bring.  G DATA AntiVirus 2009 is one of the new antivirus programs which has been developed to deal with the current generation of malicious software out there on the Internet.

The Internet has provided us with virtually unlimited access to information, and the ability to shop beyond the boundaries of geographical space.  From a business perspective, it has allowed us to expand our market beyond any real world limitations.  However, along with this freedom comes the new and ever present dangers of malicious software and online security threats.  By making sure that your business has access to the latest antivirus applications and updates, you can ensure yourself and your business against these threats.
